    A portrait by Benjamin Robert Haydon, painted when Hunt was in his 20s, shows a man possessed of an obvious burning intelligence. He began writing poetry at the age of 10, left school at 15, discovered erotic love among Londons 5,000 prostitutes (as he recorded in the manuscript of his autobiography), and published his first book in 1801, when he was 17.
