The Fourth Plinth: could you be art? Jun 24, 2008
Straightforward and excessively literal, I fear that Nelson s Ship in a Bottle will fail to make much of a mark, just as past works by Bill Woodrow and Marc Quinn that also occupied the Fourth Plinth were defeated by their setting. Of the six artists shortlisted for these two new commissions, I have a soft spot for Anish Kapoor, and would much rather see the five concave mirrors of his Sky Plinth than Shonibare s bottled ship. A man of few words Feb 6, 2008
He admires Tracey Emin and Bill Woodrow; are there artists working in other mediums with whom he feels on the same wavelength. "The Coen brothers are really great. No Country for Old Men was particularly good. All of their movies are. David Lynch, I have to say, has really got some good things going. Mulholland Drive - that was good! And Inland Empire ... " His voice is excited. (Guardian Unlimited)

Changes at British Council 'appalling' Jan 12, 2008
Sculptor Bill Woodrow is not convinced: "If it's about multidisciplinary work I squirm a little, because that usually means a dilution of things." He was part of the successful British Council sculpture exhibition in Tehran three years ago. "It was an incredible event which had a two-way benefit and it would never have happened without the British Council," he said. (Guardian Unlimited)
The bronze sorcerer Jan 12, 2008
When Mu;oz's work has been compared to other postwar art, either by himself or by critics, the frame of reference has tended to be sculpture, whether European Arte Povera or younger practitioners such as Bill Woodrow and Richard Deacon, both of whom he met in London. Yet Mu;oz studied graphic art, and his subsequent work strongly suggests that when he lived here, the painter Francis Bacon may have been the living artist who meant most to him. (Guardian Unlimited)
