In a rare opportunity for today's Americans to see the works of Rufino Tamayo, a contemporary and sometimes challenger of muralists Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art opened the U.S. debut this weekend of "Tamayo: A Modern Icon Reinterpreted," the exhibition outside of Mexico in 27 years. Granma's main photo shows Castro smiling as Seor Chavez and Raul Castro stand next to his bed, beside an easel carrying a large portrait of the Cuban leader painted in 1959 by David Alfaro Siqueiros, a noted Mexican artist.
