    Lynden WA mall building destroyed by fire  Jun 10, 2008
    Don Davis of the Bellingham Fire Department says firefighters searched the nearly block-long building before getting out themselves on Monday afternoon. The four-alarm blaze broke out at about 1 p.m. in the three-story building that housed a Japanese restaurant, an office, an art gallery, a credit union and a clock and antique shop, among other businesses.     Avenue of Flags recognizes Kingsley veterans  May 23, 2008
    The Memorial Day tradition began in 1982 when U.S. Navy and Korean War veteran Don Davis and his late wife, Arlene, expressed an interest in an Avenue of Flags after their 21-year-old son, Neil, also a Navy veteran, was killed in a car accident in Florida in February 1982.     UH student downsizes cataclysmic asteroid  Apr 13, 2008
    ARTIST DON DAVIS / NASA Scientific evidence now supports the hypothesis that a major asteroid or comet impact occurred in the Caribbean region at the boundary of the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods in Earth's geologic history, as illustrated in this drawing. Such an impact is suspected to be responsible for the mass extinction of large dinosaurs, but work led by a UH team shows the asteroid was smaller than had been thought. (Honolulu Star-Bulletin)
