The concerns come after the Missouri Department of Natural Resources issued a permit to allow a 4,800-hog farm near Arrow Rock, which is listed as a National Historic Landmark along with the house of 1800s realist painter George Caleb Bingham. But residents worry the stench, flies and other pollution issues from the farm will drive away tourists and ruin the quality of life around Arrow Rock, where many buildings in the village date back to the 1830s.
