Orders keep Fenton open Dec 6, 2007
The Williamstown-based company, one of West Virginias last hand-blown glassmakers, had announced in August it would soon close, but Fenton Art Glass President George W. Fenton said Tuesday there has been a surge in orders and the company has made progress in restructuring its finances. Fenton Art Glass will accept orders for spring 2008, he said. Fenton Art Glass President George Fenton announced Thursday that the 102-year-old company will immediately lay off 25 of its 150 employees and will cease taking orders at the end of the month.
