King, Verbinski team on new film Feb 21, 2008
Verbinski has already enlisted visual effects guru Mark McCreery, who designed the creatures for the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, along with James Ward Byrkit, who was art department designer for all three "Pirates" pics. Verbinski and King both said they had wanted to make an animated film. (Variety)

My eyes are drawn to a vast, hideous - and wonderful - rustic painting by James Ward that I suspect won't be on view at either Tate for quite some time; another rack reveals a painting of some kind of robotic ape that - speculates Morris - may be connected to the Cobra group (which is a sophisticated way of saying it looks like the work of a troubled five-year-old). And then we come across Picasso's Bowl of Fruit, Violin and Bottle, painted in 1914 and now waiting to be moved into the new cubist... (Guardian Unlimited)
