    Behind their crafts are the high arts  Nov 8, 2009
    In the late 19th century Philadelphia was a real arts center for lithography and photography, says Nicholas Crosson of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. The first photograph in America was produced here in 1839 and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts was established in 1805, making it the first art school in the United States. (Boston Globe)
