    Some of the images are meant to be completely objective, like the oddly uninflected studio portraits of Michael Disfarmer; others are meant to be read symbolically, like Frederick Sommer's double-exposure portrait of artist Max Ernst, a picture that intends to be as surreal as the artist's own work. More obviously, some of the portraits in the show are of anonymous subjects, while others are clearly celebrities. (AZCentral -- Entertainment)
