A collaboration between curators, led by Harry Cooper and a conservation team headed by Henry Lie, it used connoisseurship and science to resurrect the reputation of the Italian sculptor of the late 19th and early 20th centuries (Boston Globe, MA)

Instead of pigeonholing Degas with the Impressionists, she looks at his work in relation to that of his Italian contemporaries Giuseppe de Nittis, Frederico Zandomeneghi, Medardo Rosso and Giovanni Boldini. In the case of the sculptor Medardo Rosso, there are real and close affinities between the blurred, soft, melting forms in the symbolist portrait called Ecce Puer and in similar portrait busts by Degas (Telegraph.co.uk, UK)
