The drawing of "Saint John the Evangelist" standing was thought in olden times to be by Parmigianino, as witnessed by an early inscription in English. Done in pen and brown ink, with the sharpness of a goldsmith wielding a stylus and a sense of volume that betrays the hand of an artist familiar with sculpture, it was plausibly ascribed by Sotheby's to the "circle of Hans Holbein."
