    "AltCraft," according to the press packet, is about utilizing "DIY practices and creative repurposing of materials." We're thinking ReadyMade. The show opens Friday night with a panel discussion on "The Politics of Craft," with a limited number of seats available only by RSVP. The $12 panel admission includes wine and snacks, and a VIP pass for the show on the weekend, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15-16 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 17. (San Francisco Chronicle)

    Rene Block's 1990 The Readymade Boomerang was a magnificent exhibition, which attempted to trace the influence of early modernism to the present day.     Indeed, parts of the Concorde collection, which has been on display in Toulouse since the beginning of September, evoke the aesthetic of Marcel Duchamp's "readymade" sculptures, which the avant-garde French artist composed from bicycle wheels, panes of glass and other found objects.
