Real flowers take center stage in 'Art is Blooming' Jun 26, 2008
Last Thursday evening, more fully awake, I joined the crowd at "Art is Blooming." Floral art brings to mind classic still life, but the Taneytown folks had other ideas. Gradually, we have progressed from still life to animals like birds and crabs to people. And drawing people has always been a challenge for me. (DeWitt Era-Enterprise, AR)
Color -- urban and rural -- a part of Hagin's world Mar 28, 2008
Hagin is a realist painter of still lifes, and the 19 works on display are drawn from acrylic paintings on canvas done in her New York City studio and watercolors painted in her barn studio in upstate New York ... Lettuce-green ladders, rails and window trim show up in two of her still lifes -- "Ladder Stripes" and, to a lesser degree, "Grocery Greens," a 60-by-60-inch acrylic on canvas ... The green ladders and rails stop the still life from going out of the top of the painting. (NJ.com -- Times)
